A true example of the word...Father

As the very significant 4/7 date approaches, I started to reflect on what
it truly means to be a father.

As one who grew up without a father in the home, I can totally understand
what the absence of a “father” means. As a father myself, I completely
understand what the presence of one means.

At an early age, a father is essential in helping to instill the following
very important traits: Character, Self-esteem, Self-confidence,
Courage, Determination and Motivation

I can elaborate further, but I think you all get my point. Therefore, if
you have or have had a “real father” in your life consider it a
blessing. If you did not, it is O. K. because you can learn from other
fathers you may have seen and heard from throughout your lifetime.
God looks out for all of us! Growing up, one of the best examples
of a dad that I saw growing up is the person this whole Cherish Family
Brand represents, Allen Smith aka Big Al! To commemorate Allen
Smith, the entire “Cherish Family Brand” embodies the qualities
and character he represented.

So moving forward, to all the dads out there , please recognize your
power and importance. You have the power to change the life of your own
kids in a positive way. As a role model, you  can also have a  profound and
positive effect on the lives of others, without even realizing your inspiration.

That being said, always Cherish Fatherhood/Cherish Family!

What Happened to Compassion?

There is a very popular video going around called (The Freezing Homeless Child Experiment). As I watched these people walk by this child all I could do is shake my head. Why do you ask? Is it because I think I'm Holier that the next man? No! Is it because I think mankind is evil as a whole? No! Some peolpe actually did pause and stare but for whatever reason decided to keep it moving. Who knows... The bigger thing we need to take out of this video is this...Most of us are only a paycheck, death of a parent or death of a spouse away from being in that same predicament in that same plastic bags as that freezing young man. So please keep in mind as you go about your day and complain about what you don't have. You might want to Cherish what you do. That being said Cherish life and always, Cherish Family! Peace  (The Guv-e-nor)

When is the New, Old?

We as people are often tired by things we've seen or used too many times. The life span of objects varies extremely, as does our attraction or fascination with things. If I repeatedly come home to the same layout of my living space, eventually I will rearrange some aspect of it. I may remove a chair, add a new pillow, paint a wall, switch out a painting or two but in a small amount of time my world will be changed. Is fashion the same way.....of course it is. Change can be great but must be done in a timely manner for premature change can be an extreme error.

Why we are here....

Whenever we see an opportunity to give back while concurrently pushing our cause, we will  do it. Our aim is to promote healthy family life, to provide a visual representation of that on our products and to remind our family and our extended family that they matter.

New Jersey City University/Cherish Family Brand

On November 29, 2014 this school was the benefactor of 36 commemorative tees from the Cherish Family Brand. This school is located in an urban environment populated by minorities.  They are responsive to the community that it serves.  They have part-time programs, on-line programs and a variety of flexible scheduling.  Providing education strengthen families.  Al-Majied Smith is also a graduate of this school and realized that they had shared values and goals.   Therefore he did a presentation explaining the mission and the foundation of the Cherish Family Brand and distributed the shirts to the basketball team.  All was warmly received.

Giving Back at Dudley High School

Dudley High School/Cherish Family Brand

On October 17, 2014 we donated 65 shirts to the Dudley High School football team.  The school had adopted a policy of academic excellence on and off the field for the 2014 season. We admired their outcome and shared their goals.  We designed a special shirt for them. The shirt featured their school colors and had the school name and logo on the back.  Al-Majied Smith one of the Cherish Family Brand founders was present at their Homecoming game.  He gave a short speech explaining how and why the brand evolved and delivered the shirts to the team.  Al-Majied was also a graduate of Dudley High and considered them "family".

Susan B. Komen/Cherish Family Brand

This organizations goal is to strengthen families by encouraging mammograms and eradicating breast cancer.  October is breast cancer awareness month.  Cherish Family Brand contributed to their cause by designing and marketing pink tees that promoted awareness and by making financial donations to their North Carolina chapter in the name of Ruby Smith.  Ruby is the mother of the Cherish Family Brand founders and she is also a breast cancer survivor.

Cherish Family

Family can be defined in different ways.  Family can be biological (people who share the same blood) or it can be a social construct (people who share the same purpose or goals).  Accordingly, the Cherish Family Brand has reached out to three separate organizations that we share ideology with in an effort to foster their goals and give back to the community.
